Overview
If you see the message "Reinstallation Recommended" on your device, it means the initially installed version of the operating system is outdated. To ensure optimal performance, compatibility with new features, and system security, we strongly recommend performing a fresh installation. Here’s why this step is important.
Why is a Fresh Installation Required?
Outdated Operating System (OS) Version
Similar to how Windows users may need to upgrade from deprecated versions like Windows 7 to Windows 11 to stay current, the same is true for Linux-based systems. Over time, older OS versions can no longer support the latest features or performance improvements.New Features and Compatibility
Recent updates may include new capabilities that require a more advanced OS version to function correctly. For example:Printing Support: Newly added printer compatibility and other hardware functions might rely on features that are only available in newer OS versions.
Enhanced Diagnostics and Tools: Improvements in diagnostics, erasure, and device management may depend on updated OS components not available in older versions.
Security Patches
Older OS versions eventually stop receiving security updates and patches, leaving your system vulnerable to potential threats. A fresh installation with a newer OS version ensures you’re protected with the latest security enhancements.Performance Optimizations
Upgrading to the latest OS version often includes performance optimizations. Newer versions can provide faster processing speeds, improved memory management, and overall better system responsiveness.
How often does it happen?
It happens in general very seldom, e.g. since the first version of Securaze Mobile Linux it happened once until now.
How to Perform a Fresh Installation
We recommend using a USB stick for the fresh installation to ensure a clean, stable setup:
Download the latest OS version and installer from the Securaze Dashboard.
Follow the instructions for creating a bootable USB stick.
Insert the USB stick into your device, restart, and proceed with the installation steps.
Please Note: You may proceed with a software update if preferred; however, there may be compatibility risks if the operating system version is significantly outdated. A fresh installation is the most reliable way to maintain compatibility and security.
